Perspective…

Today’s little mantra for us all.

Do you ever find yourself talking negative, giving yourself a hard time or placing too much energy on what don’t have?

Yes, me too!!!  OMG…Why do we do this?  Well gosh, now there is a long list, but hey let’s NOT go there.

Let’s all…

  • Pause;
  • Take 3 deep breaths;
  • I mean, like REAL deep breaths, stand tall and really focus on your breath;
  • Be present in this moment;
  • And now, reflect upon the progress YOU ARE making.

I bet you can list 3 things instantly.  How good does that feel?

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

I know right, it’s the best.  Sometimes we all just need this little reminder, to give ourselves permission, to celebrate where we are, to connect in with our heart centre and to be grateful – in the now.

Have yourself an awesome day.  You’ve got this xx

I AM making progress

Keep Growing…

  • Surround yourself with your tribe;
  • Be inspired;
  • Stay motivated;
  • Maintain your focus;

These are just some of the statements you may have heard along your life journey.  How do you achieve these things?

I am constantly looking to continue my own growth, albeit personal or professional.  I know there is a whole world of ‘learning’ wealth out there for me.  One of the methods I use for growth and learning is reading.  Though, I haven’t always enjoyed to read.  It is only in recent years that I have found my joy in reading…Why? What does reading do for me?

I realised my ‘why’ in this new-found joy of reading comes from the source ie I’m reading books that:

  • Inspire Me;
  • Ignite emotions within me;
  • They raise my curiosity.  That happy space in my brain that continues to see me asking ‘why’ and ‘how’ and ‘what if’ and ‘really’?
  • Spark my imagination…Like imagine spending just one day with Richard Branson!
  • Answer, unanswered questions;
  • Connect me – to new people, new thoughts and new experiences.

So, before you next dive into your local bookstore or jump online, ask yourself a few questions about your ‘why’ of what you are looking for in a read.  Sometimes, the best book for you may not necessarily be the one your colleague or friend has just read.  For me, it has to connect with my ‘why’ at that time.  And, at different times you will connect with different reads and for different reasons.

Last Easter I read a book that I’d had on my bookshelf for over 7 years, unread!  And for whatever the reason I was ready to read it at that time.  I picked it up, fell deeply connected with it and read it in the 4 days of the Easter Break.  Below is my most recent read.  Once again, I connected deeply with it and read it within a week.

One of my favourite rituals is to sit in the early morning on the front deck, in the sunshine with a coffee and read.  It’s such a blissful and peaceful way to begin my day.

Reflecting…Did you take the time?

Prior to focussing on the new year ahead, I like to hit the pause button and enjoy a few moments of reflection for the year that was, 2015.

For me, this provides…

  • Gratitude, and
  • Perspective

A wonderful opportunity to see where I am doing well and other areas that may need more of my focus.  To summarise 2015, for me it consisted of much growth and learning, both at a professional and personal level.  In some cases, that meant I didn’t achieve goals I had set.  Did this initially frustrate me?  Absolutely!

However, if there is one thing I have learned throughout my health journey, it’s patience.  Rather than my previous self-sabotaging thoughts, I was able to reflect, ask myself some honest questions and re-focus.  This meant ‘change’ which is a whole other story for another time!  Needless to say though, it pushes my buttons.  Sometimes the mind has the goal set, however the body and our universe have other ideas.

Reflection provided me the perspective to realise there were reasons for not achieving certain goals and I’m grateful for that opportunity to pause and then move forward with renewed perspective, goals and motivation.

Did you allow yourself the time to reflect, hit the pause button and then move forward ready for living your best life in 2016?  It’s never too late…

My tips for you, this Festive Season

The festive season is not just about ‘making it through’ right?  We all want to ‘thrive’, not just survive!  Here are a few tips of my own that see our family enjoying the festive season with lots of Health & Happiness.

So, December is in full swing which means so too is the festive season!  DO NOT gasp, in fact take a long, slow, deep breath.  This is not a reason to:

  • Stress
  • Become crazy
  • Eat irrationally
  • Stop exercising
  • Drink in excess

This DOES NOT have to be the ‘silly season’…it is your choice!  There is still an abundance of time for:

  • Your regular yoga or exercise regime
  • Daily meditation
  • Preparing clean, seasonal and tasty nourishment
  • Warm hugs with loved ones

You do not need to absorb the energy fed to us via media and other sources.

My tips for the festive season

As you are pausing for that breath of fresh air, just reflect and ask yourself the question ‘How would I like to shape my/our festive/holiday season’.  Right now, you are empowered to make choices to put forward the energy for this season of the year, which you choose.

  • Calm
  • Kindness
  • Peaceful
  • Connected
  • Mindful

If you don’t want to begin 2016 with:

  • Excess kilos
  • That heavy/guilty feeling
  • Regret
  • Lack of Inspiration/Direction

Then DON’T!!  Here are a few of my tips for surviving AND enjoying the festive/holiday season:

  • Rather than going on ‘auto-pilot’ connect with you and make conscious empowered choices that work for you and your loved-ones.
  • You DON’T have to attend every social event for which you receive an invite.
  • Maintain as many of your health and happiness rituals as possible.  For example, when I’m on holidays (at home or away) I still rise around 5am…it keeps me in a good rythmn.
  • Maintain your exercise regime.
  • Sure it’s great to enjoy some xmas cheer/cake/pudding, just ensure you’re making conscious eating choices…rather than the ‘auto-pilot’ response of YES, to everything!
  • This is not a time for excuses about blowing the budget…once again make conscious spending choices.
  • Giving comes from a heart space not the $$ on the price tag.
  • Be a little respectful of others as we all choose to celebrate this time of year in a way that best connects with us.
  • If you are looking to improve/begin better health and happiness practices then start and focus on one thing at a time.  Do this with consistency.  Believe in yourself in every single moment and once you have a good handle on one change, then introduce another.  Remember this is YOUR journey, so lend yourself a little patience along the way 🙂

Feel welcome to share with us any of your strategies for remaining healthy and happy during this season.  And of course, if you have any questions, always feel welcome to ask…it’s one of the best ways we all learn xx
